St. Christina, an enchanting mountain village in the heart of the breathtaking Dolomites. It is an ideal starting point for hikes and, in winter, for skiing in the popular Dolomites Val Gardena / Gröden ski area. The village offers picturesque scenery and cultural treasures such as the Fischburg castle surrounded by numerous fish ponds and a spherical equatorial sundial with a diameter of 2 metres. As a smaller village in the Val Gardena valley, it is quieter than its neighbouring villages, but still centrally located.

Hiking and skiing in St. Christina

In St. Christina, you will find hikes such as the Legends Trail to St. Jacob's Church, the trail to the Sëurasas Alm and the Circuit of the Langkofel Group, which are suitable for beginners to experienced hikers. Other popular destinations include the Col Raiser and Seceda with their panoramic views.

In winter, you can explore the slopes of the huge Dolomiti Superski area in St. Christina, including the famous Sellaronda and the Seceda area, home to the world-famous Saslong ski slope.

Culture in Santa Cristina – Val Gardena

The culture in St. Christina in Val Gardena is characterised by the Ladin language, traditional crafts such as wood carving, a rich club life with bands and choirs, as well as historical sights such as the pilgrimage church and the largest nativity scene in the world. There are several themed trails in St. Christina, Val Gardena: the Legends Trail from St. Jacob to the St. Jacob Chapel with historical frescoes, the Val Gardena Railway Trail, which tells the story of the railway line along the former route and is suitable for pushchairs, and the PanaRaida Nature Trail above the village, which is designed for families with interactive stations.
