Trudner Horn Nature Park in South Tyrol

A paradise of biodiversity

Whether you are an active hiker or a culture-loving explorer, this park offers the right mix of adventure and authenticity for everyone. 6,851 hectares of pure diversity – the Trudner Horn Nature Park is South Tyrol's most species-rich protected area and extends from 300 to 1,871 metres above sea level. A sub-Mediterranean climate meets Alpine landscapes: scrub forests, wet meadows, moors and the legendary White Lake create a unique natural experience.

Active experiences

The Trudner Horn Nature Park invites you to enjoy a varied outdoor experience with its diverse hiking trails. Particularly recommended are the Gschnoner Circular Trail, which leads along beautiful meadows and green forests, and the Altreier Sagenweg, which brings exciting stories and myths to life.
Those who prefer to relax at a leisurely pace will find an oasis of calm in the Sandegg Kneipp relaxation room in Altrei. Other beautiful tours include the hike to the Cisloner Alm and the more challenging route over the Ziss Saddle to the Krabes Alm. The varied landscapes offer ideal conditions for nature observation and photography.

Nature conservation and education

In addition to nature, visitors to the Trudner Horn Nature Park can also expect cultural diversity. The Nature Park House in Truden, housed in a historic elevator mill, offers exhibitions and interesting insights into the flora, fauna and history of the region. Here, visitors can also discover a small children's workshop with the clever badger ‘Daksy’. The legend trails in Truden and Altrei lead through the fairy tales and legends of the area, combining nature with regional customs.
Authentic villages –  The five municipalities of Altrei, Montan, Neumarkt, Salurn and Truden preserve authentic South Tyrolean village life. Each has its own character – and all have stories to tell.
