The House of Nature – Naturatrafoi Visitor Centre in Trafoi

Life on the border in the National Park

Impressive insights into the geology of the Ortler-Cevedale Group

The Naturatrafoi Visitor Centre is picturesquely located in Trafoi (municipality of Stilfs, South Tyrol) directly on the winding Stilfserjoch road – an ideal starting point for discovering the Stilfserjoch (Stelvio) National Park with all its wild beauty.

Exciting insights into the world of high mountains 🦌🏔️

In the centre, an interactive permanent exhibition entitled ‘Life on the Edge’ awaits you, which shows the geology of the Ortler Group in detail and impressively conveys how plants and animals adapt to the extreme high mountain climate.
Through impressive photo panels, a small exhibition cinema, rock samples and animal skins to touch, visitors are immersed in the harsh but fascinating world of the high mountains.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Naturatrafoi is particularly suitable for families: children can solve puzzles, listen to fairy tales or put together a rock puzzle at interactive play stations – making learning an experience.

Special exhibitions & events

In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are regular special exhibitions, for example on the amphibians of South Tyrol, and seasonal themes. The centre also offers regular guided nature tours. On the tour ‘Clever in the Mountains’, visitors learn how animals and plants survive the harsh conditions – an exciting tour for young and old alike. Film evenings showing documentaries about the national park are also very popular, featuring spectacular footage of wildlife and mountain landscapes.
