The Bletterbach Gorge in Aldein/Radein is part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site of the Dolomites and is one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in South Tyrol. Here you can experience rock layers dating back millions of years up close. Fossils and unique rock formations tell the fascinating story of the Earth's history – an experience for geologists, hikers and nature lovers alike.

The Bletterbach Gorge has an extensive network of nature trails that make the gorge easily accessible and educational for visitors:

  • Length & duration: The main trails are between 3 and 6 km long and take about 1.5 to 3 hours to walk.
  • Signage: Well-marked paths with numerous information boards explain the geological layers, fossil finds and the formation of the gorge.

  • ⛑️ Helmets compulsory: Helmets must be worn in the gorge – please bring your own helmet or hire one on site.
  • 🥾 Sturdy footwear is essential as the paths are steep and uneven.

  • 🌧️ Postpone hikes in bad weather or heavy rain – the gorge can be dangerous in such conditions.
