Welcome to the Parish Museum Sand in Taufers
Rare Treasures in the granary. Look, marvek, learn.
WALK THROUGH SEVEN CENTURIES OF ART IN THE GRANARY
The parish museum is showing around 50 works of sacred art in a carefully curated exhibition. The exhibits, including statues and paintings, span 700 years of regional history. They invite visitors to look at, delve into and understand them, as sacred art not only expresses religious beliefs but also socio-political and artistic changes over the various eras.
The parish museum is located in the Gothic granary, a simple cuboid structure in the north-east corner of the parish garden. The year 1559 can be read in the archway of the entrance door, indicating that the small building was rebuilt.
