Reifenstein castle was built between the 11th and 14th centuries. It surmounts a massive rock overlooking the plain of Sterzing and is one of Südtirol’s best preserved castles of enormous art-historical interest. The Green Hall is exquisite with its murals and lattices from the late Gothic period. Nine or ten perfectly preserved rooms can be visited, among them the 12th century Tyrolean Stube.
