The church was built in the period between 1420 and 1430. The St. Anthony chancel is unusual in that its walls were frescoed around 1470 even though it was customary at the time to produce a carved, winged altarpiece before painting frescoes. The small side altars are also frescoed rather than carved. The nave contains the remains of late 14th century wall paintings by Bartlmä Dill Riemenschneider, son of the famous wood sculptor Tilman from Würzburg.
