The wine producing village of Terlan
The wine producing village of Terlan, incorporating the villages of Vilpian and Siebeneich, is situated in the Etsch Valley some 10 km from Bozen and 16 km from Meran. It lies amongst vineyards and orchards at 248 m a.s.l. Terlan is particularly well known for its white wines and its asparagus. In spring, asparagus delicacies attract parties of locals and tourists alike, while in summer the swimming pool and tennis courts turn your attention towards doing some sport. For art lovers, a visit to the parish church of Terlan with its wonderful gothic frescoes is a must. A short walk to the ruined castle of Maultasch is also worthwhile for its lovely view.
From Vilpian a small cable car takes you up to the heights and a makes a good starting point for easy walks on Mount Tschöggl.
