Three picturesque villages Kurtatsch/Margreid/Kurtinig
The three picturesque villages Kurtatsch/Margreid/Kurtinig on the Wine Road lie amongst vineyards and orchards in the sunny south of South Tyrol. The century old wine growing tradition is evident everywhere. Painters and photographers are fascinated by the blend of Mediterranean and alpine styles. Kurtatsch a. d. W. lies on the sun terrace of the Wine Road. Many paths wind between the wine farms, vineyards and woods up to the highlands of Penon and Graun and onto the high plateau of Fennberg (1000-2000 meters). The St. George Chapel in Graun is a real treasure. A favorite excursion place is the charming magic garden in Entiklar. Margreid a. d. W., where the painter Karl Anrather was born, is a sleepy, picturesque village, nestling to the foot of the rock face of Fennberg. Climbers can climb to the top to experience the unique view. The oldest South Tyrolean house vine (1601) can be found in Grafengasse, and it still bears grapes every year. Kurtinig a. d. W., the smallest of the three villages, lies in the middle of the Etsch Valley and is the ideal place for long walks and cycle tours. In the last few years it became known for an excellent sparkling wine and its biotopes. ... Do you want to know more about it?
