In common with other Franciscan and Capuchin churches built during the period of the Counter Reformation, this building is distinguished from traditional monastery churches by its modest and clear-cut architecture. The church was built between 1693-1698 and consecrated by the prince bishop of Brixen in 1697. The cloisters are especially worth seeing for their superb 31 pictures depicting the life of St. Francis, painted by Father Lukas Plazer. Art lovers will also find the altar paintings by Christoph Unterberger interesting.
