The small church was mentioned in documents dating back to 1310, rebuilt and decorated by the master Wenzeslaus in 1415 and subsequently transformed into baroque style by the brothers Franz and Andreas Delai in 1665/67. The entire interior is frescoed in keeping with the church’s status as a place of pilgrimage. The Pietà and frescoes are dated, revealing that the church was a place of pilgrimage in 1415 and probably earlier.
