This is the oldest large Romanesque building still in existence in Südtirol and dates back to the 12th century. Of special interest are the late Romanesque frescos (the one of the Emperor Otto together with the church’s patron saints is attributed to Michael Pacher), the crypt surrounded by pillars and the larger than life-size wooden Crucifixion group which dates from around 1250. It is a masterpiece of Gothic sculpture in Südtirol and the only one still intact with its original colours.
