St. Moritzen Church - Campo Tures

St. Moritzen Church - Sand in Taufers

Street:
St. Moritzen
City:
I-39032 Sand in Taufers (BZ)

The first settlement of the main village (Sand in Taufers) was in St. Moritzen.
The double aisle and very low set inner floor have a tendency to work heavily and dismal on one. In 1981 the church was fully renovated. The inner part was greatly improved through the removal of the gallery. The building was originally constructed in 1443 but in the 16th century, it was provided with a vaulted ceiling and in 1679 it was expanded and an additional aisle was built. The altarpiece entails the church’s patron saints: St. Mauritius with Silvester and Martinus. Statues on the sides are of St. Sebastian und Rochus and a statue, which is greatly honoured, of Our Mother in Sorrow from the 17th century stands on the second aisle’s altar.
