The small picturesque castle dominates a hill at the entrance to the Eppan area and can be seen from afar, standing out from the surrounding woods and vineyards like a large ship’s hull. It is without a protective wall or moat and the keep dates back to the High Middle Ages. Various parts were added over the centuries and the domestic quarters were built mainly during the 17th century. The decorative paintings in the living area and tower originate from the same period as the Gothic style bay windows, with the year 1613 carved into the wood panelling. The castle has been lovingly restored and transformed into a three-star residence with apartments.
