The glittering splendour of the Tiso crystal geodes and Alpine minerals
This splendid Mineralogical Museum is located in the Association Building in the center of Tiso in Val di Funes in Alto Adige just 7 kilometers from the Brennero Autostrada (get off at the Chiusa Exit). The experts have arranged the Museum’s exhibitions by effectively combining creative fantasy with the most modern museum design and educational criteria. An introductory film offers even the most inexperienced visitor a complete panoramic view on the origin and nature of the crystals on display in the Museum.The Museum Shop provides a complete selection of publications on Mineralogy, souvenirs, jewellery and healing stones and crystals.
The collection
Paul Fischnaller is the «crystal hunter», the mineral collector who has collected all the specimens on display in the museum and now works to present them to visitors from all over the world.The collection also includes from outside the Tiso area that he has visited himself: Switzerland, Valle d’Aosta, The Mount Blanc area IdarOberstein in the Rheinland Palatinate.No pieces on display have been purchased or acquired through trading, and the collection is constantly revised by Paul Fischnaller himself through the addition of interesting new minerals.
Geodes - Precious lights from the depths
Geodes, which can reach even 20 centimeter diameter and amygdale Agate, are set in the mother lode of porphyry quartz.These cavities can enclose up to seven different types of mineral, including amethyst and quartz crystals in all their transparent purity, and agate, with its colourful concentric rings.Each geode cavity encloses its precious crystal secret that is now revealed by visiting the museum.
